Chapter 20: Tiamat’s Landscape and Ecosystem

Updated: 3 days ago

Tiamat is a planet of incredible beauty, with environments vastly different from Earth. The planet is rich in natural crystalline forests that pulse with energy, giving off radiant light that can be harnessed by those in tune with its frequency. The land is interspersed with floating islands, massive landmasses that hover in the sky due to the gravitational anomalies caused by the energy-rich core of the planet. Oceans of liquid light stretch across its surface, glowing with an ethereal beauty, but they are also treacherous, as the energy within them can be volatile and dangerous to those untrained in controlling it.

There are three major regions where the Guardians of Tiamat have established their strongholds:

  1. Lyonis Prime – The main city of Lyons, built within a mountain range of glowing crystal spires. This city is a fusion of advanced technology and natural beauty. The Lyons, masters of strategy and combat, have made it a fortified bastion of defense, where massive light-powered cannons and energy shields protect them from any external threats. Lyonis Prime also serves as the hub of the Guardian alliance, with councils and war meetings held within the heart of the city.

  2. Lusarian Citadel – Located within the Crystal Abyss, a subterranean network of glowing caverns that run deep beneath Tiamat’s surface, this is where the Lusari have established their seat of power. The Citadel is a beacon of technological advancement, with labs, forges, and starship docks that stretch through the labyrinthine caves. Here, the Lusari have perfected their light-energy technology, crafting weapons and ships that are faster and more powerful than anything they had on Earth.

  3. Taurian Sanctuary – Built on one of the largest floating islands, this sanctuary is surrounded by ancient trees that grow from the very essence of the planet's energy. The Taurians, deeply connected to Tiamat's natural forces, use this place as a center for spiritual and elemental training. The Taurian elders guide the alliance on how to use Tiamat’s natural energy to its fullest, providing them with enhanced abilities in battle and defensive strategies that are tied to the planet itself.

The Voryans and Their Dark Influence

The Voryans, once rulers of a dark empire that spanned galaxies, had been defeated long ago, their forces scattered across the universe. However, remnants of their power found refuge on Tiamat, where they’ve remained in hiding for millennia, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

The Voryans are beings of pure darkness, feeding on fear, division, and chaos. Their form is often amorphous, shifting shadows, though they can take solid shape when needed. Their greatest weapon is their ability to corrupt light, turning it into darkness. They do this through the Black Crystal, an ancient artifact hidden deep within Tiamat that corrupts the planet’s natural energy, giving them the power to twist light-based beings into creatures of darkness.

The Voryans have used their dark influence to create an army of shadow creatures—Darklings, beings formed from the planet’s corrupted light. These creatures are relentless and devastating in combat, often attacking in swarms, seeking to overwhelm their enemies. The Voryans’ ultimate goal is to find a way to control Tiamat's energy entirely, turning it into a source of darkness that could fuel their resurgence across the galaxy.

The Guardians' Struggle

The Guardians of Tiamat—the alliance of Lyons, Lusari, and Taurians—are in a constant state of vigilance. Every year, the Voryans attempt to spread their corruption further, leading to frequent battles at the borders of the regions controlled by the Guardians.

  • Lyon warriors use their unmatched strength and tactical brilliance to lead the charge in battle. Their technology, combined with the Taurians' knowledge of the land, allows them to create specialized units of energy-enhanced warriors, capable of fighting off hordes of Darklings.

  • The Lusari have developed a special unit of Light Wardens, warriors and scientists capable of purifying the corrupted energy, turning dark crystals back into their pure state. They are essential in reclaiming areas that have been overtaken by the Voryans.

  • The Taurians, as spiritual leaders, teach both the Lyons and Lusari to harness Tiamat’s natural energy. They’ve discovered that the planet itself can be a weapon—controlling the flow of the liquid light oceans or causing the crystalline trees to burst into life, attacking Voryan forces directly.

The Final Battle Approaches

The Voryans, aware of the growing strength of the Guardians, are preparing for a final confrontation. They’ve begun to gather their forces around the Black Crystal, deep in the Voidlands, a desolate region of Tiamat where no light can penetrate. This place is the heart of their power, and it is said that the only way to stop the Voryans for good is to destroy the Black Crystal. However, doing so will be incredibly dangerous—venturing into the Voidlands means facing an entire army of Darklings and Voryan generals, as well as the risk of being corrupted by the darkness.

The Guardians know that this battle will determine the fate of not only Tiamat but perhaps the entire galaxy. Lorrain could play a pivotal role in this battle, being a figure of balance between light and dark, capable of navigating the dangerous forces at play. Perhaps Lorrain alone holds the key to purifying the Black Crystal, using a power or knowledge passed down from the ancient Lyons and Lusari, but at great personal risk.
